Questions about your bathroom renovation
How much does a bathroom renovation cost?
In Flanders, a complete bathroom renovation in 2026 costs on average between €8,000 and €25,000 incl. VAT, or roughly €750 to €1,500 per m² for a standard finish. A small renovation of toilet, basin and floor is more like €3,500 to €7,000. You get your exact price after a free site visit.
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
For an average bathroom, the work on site usually takes a few weeks. Add the delivery time for tiles, sanitary ware and furniture. Our quote includes a week-by-week schedule, so you know when you can use the bathroom again.
Can I choose the tiles and sanitary ware myself?
Yes. You choose your own tiles, taps and furniture, with advice from our team if you like. We take care of the complete installation and tell you in advance if something does not fit technically, for example a drain or floor height.
Can my bath be replaced by a walk-in shower?
In most bathrooms, yes. During the site visit we check the drain, the floor build-up and the fall. Then we install a waterproof shower floor, a glass screen and the taps in the wall.
Why is waterproofing so important?
Tiles and grout are not waterproof. Without a waterproof layer underneath, water eventually seeps into the walls and floor, leading to mould or a leak into the neighbours' ceiling below. That is why we always apply waterproofing in the shower area and on the floor before tiling.
Do you also renovate bathrooms in apartments?
Yes. In an apartment we take into account the shared pipes, the drainage to the neighbours below and the working hours in the co-ownership rules. Connections to shared pipes are made in consultation with the building manager (syndic).
How do I prevent mould in the bathroom?
With good ventilation that removes moisture, a waterproof finish and well-maintained grout. During a renovation we install an extractor fan where needed or improve the existing ventilation.
Do I pay 6% or 21% VAT on my bathroom renovation?
If your house or apartment has been in use for at least 10 years and remains mainly a private home after the works, the renovation is usually subject to 6% VAT. For a home younger than 10 years, 21% applies.
Can I use the bathroom during the works?
Usually not during the strip-out, the pipework and the waterproofing. If you only have one bathroom, we discuss in advance how long you will be without it and keep the works as short as possible.
Are there hidden costs after the quote?
No. You get a fixed price upfront. If we find something unexpected after the strip-out, such as rotten pipes, we discuss it with you first and only carry out extra work after your written approval.

Renovating a bathroom: what to look out for
Walk-in shower or bath?
A walk-in shower is step-free, easy to clean and makes a small bathroom look bigger. A bath is nice for families with young children. In a bathroom from about 8 m² both often fit. During the site visit we look at which layout works best with the existing drainage. We renovate bathrooms in Antwerp and the surrounding area, in houses as well as apartments.
Waterproofing: what you no longer see afterwards
The waterproof layer under the tiles decides whether your bathroom will still be dry in ten years. Check in every quote whether and where waterproofing is included: in the shower area, on the floor and in the corners.
Ventilation against mould
A bathroom without good ventilation will sooner or later get mould, however beautiful the finish. An extractor fan that removes moisture after showering is a small extra cost that prevents a lot of problems.
Bathroom in an apartment
In an apartment, the drain and pipes are often shared with the neighbours. You only notice a leak when the neighbours below complain. That is why we take extra care with the waterproofing and coordinate work on shared pipes with the building manager. Planning a bigger renovation?
